Brooks Fiber was M|C’s first digital infrastructure investment, completed in 1993. Brooks Fiber grew to be one of the leading enterprise communications providers in the United States, and one of the first private-equity backed fiber operators globally. Brooks Fiber went public in 1996 before being acquired by WorldCom in 1998.
