Managing Partner

James F. Wade

Mr. Wade has been responsible for developing the firm's involvement in the telecom service sectors, including mobile wireless, broadband wireless, CLEC, fiber and residential broadband providers. As Managing Partner of M/C Partners, Mr. Wade leads the investment process including determining sector focus, seeking out management teams, founding new companies and working with financial sources that provide debt and equity capital to grow companies. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Open Mobile, Involta, Thrive and Neutral Connect. Previous board seats include Lightower Holdings (sold to Berkshire Partners), MetroPCS (IPO), Cavalier Telephone (sold to PAETEC), NuVox Communications (sold to WindStream), Attenda (sold to Darwin Private Equity), Brooks Fiber Properties (IPO and sale to AT&T Wireless), Triad Communications (sold to T-Mobile) and Melita. Mr. Wade graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in Finance and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Croll focuses on targeting sectors for investment, fund management, making investment decisions, assisting with recruiting and communicating with investors. He has been involved with over 100 investments in the communications services spaces over the past 35 years. He serves as President of the Board of Trustees at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Finance Committee of Cornell University, and as Chairman of the Board of The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts land conservation organization. Mr. Croll received a BS in engineering with honors from Cornell University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining the firm in 1999, Mr. Cashman was with Salomon Smith Barney in the Global Telecommunications Corporate Finance Group, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions in the wireline and wireless segments of the telecommunications industry. Mr. Cashman is focused on the wireline broadband infrastructure and services portion of the firm's portfolio. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Involta, Denovo, Everstream, PlumChoice, Ensono and Thrive. Previous board seats have included MCCC ICG Holdings (acquired by Level 3), Cavalier Telephone (acquired by PAETEC), City Signal Communications (acquired by Cavalier Telephone), Elantic Networks (merged with Cavalier Telephone), FDN Networks (merged with NuVox Communications), Baja Broadband (acquired by TDS), Zayo Group (IPO), CSDVRS (sold to Kinderhook) and Onvoy. Mr. Cashman graduated cum laude from Duke University receiving an AB in economics with distinction.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Open Mobile and Neutral Connect and has primary responsibility for M/C’s investment in Omega Wireless. Formally had primary responsibility for M/C's investments in Lightower Fiber Networks, Mobi PCS, Triad 700, Cellular One of East Texas and Public Mobile. Previous board seats include Mobi PCS (sold to Verizon), Lightower (sold to Berkshire Partners), Cellular One of East Texas (sold to Chinook Wireless) and Public Mobile (sold to Telus), and he also previously held an observer Board of Director seat at MetroPCS (IPO). Prior to joining M/C, he worked in Corporate Finance in the Global Telecommunications Group at Salomon Smith Barney, where he focused on M&A and fundraising activity in the wireline and wireless segments of the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining M/C, Mr. Watkins co-founded Telegraph Hill Communication Partners, a private equity firm focused in the media, communication services and information technology industries. From 1989 to 2001, he was a member of J.P. Morgan Capital, where he led the firm's private equity investment effort in communications and media-related industries and served on the Investment Committee and Board. During this time, he led investments and was on the Boards of Directors of fourteen portfolio companies including founding or co-founding seven of them. Portfolio companies included Affinity Internet, Columbia River Cellular, FrontierVision Partners, Horizon Cellular, Inference Corporation, Prism Radio, SaVVIS Communications, Triton Cellular and Triton PCS. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan Capital, Mr. Watkins was an Associate in J.P. Morgan's Corporate Finance group and an Investment Banking Analyst at E.F. Hutton and Company. He previously was a board member of AccentHealth (sold to ContextMedia), Mobi PCS (sold to Verizon), Legendary Pictures (sold in 2011) and Baja Broadband (sold to TDS). Mr. Watkins received a BA in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Edward J. Keefe

Mr. Keefe joined M/C Partners in 2004 and is responsible for the oversight of the finance and administration activities, information technology and financial reporting to the Limited Partners. Prior to joining M/C Partners, Mr. Keefe was Vice President of Finance at Atlas Venture, which is a leading early-stage venture capital firm. Previously, Mr. Keefe also served as Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis at Instrumentation Laboratory, Tax Consultant at Coopers & Lybrand (a predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers) and as a Senior Financial Analyst at Raytheon Company. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for The University of Maine Foundation and is a member of The United Way Finance Committee. Mr. Keefe was President of Financial Executives International (Boston Chapter) and the Treasurers' Club of Boston. He has previously been a member on the Board of Directors of The University of Maine Business School, The Bostonian Society, Rebuilding Together Boston and The Emerson Umbrella. Mr. Keefe received a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from The University of Maine, an MBA from Suffolk University and a MS in Taxation from Bentley University.
